About the First Tattoo Desk

We remember the nerves before a first tattoo. This guide is for the person with a question open in one tab and an appointment they are still thinking about in another.

Who’s behind the guide?

is the editorial name for the people putting this guide together. We write in plain language, with room for hesitation, questions, and changing your mind.

How we check the information

Health and skin-care content is checked against dermatology sources, including the American Academy of Dermatology’s tattoo guidance. Each published health article should link to the sources supporting its advice.

Source checking is editorial work. It does not mean a dermatologist has personally reviewed every page. This guide is general information; your tattoo artist can answer questions about the appointment, and a qualified health professional can answer questions about your skin.
